No it's okay to think different as long as you are willing to take personal resposibility for the decision(s) and the consequences. Don't do the crime, 'less you're willing to do the time.

It's too dangerous to allow third party developers on the iPhone, yet. The iPhone OSX is still under development; Its applications run as root.

This means that malware can be automatically run as soon as it is added to the iPhone, much like how Microsoft Windows does now. Once Apple has added the Unix based permissions system to the iPhone that is currently in Mac OSX then it can deliver a SDK, but not before. Even then, Apple is likely to manage its third party developers by licensing them and selling their apps on the iTunes Music store.

You hackers are jumping the gun. Be crazy all you want-- build your own damned iPhone. Of course, you can't.
