I was struck with realization today:
Blogs are like cocktail parties.
Bear with me…
Blogs are a way to create passionate conversations. No other medium (currently) does this. Radio doesn't. Television doesn't. Email comes closest -- but doesn't allow for eavesdroppers standing on the fringe of the conversation.
It IS like a digital cocktail party!
Cocktail parties have small groups of people sharing opinions and passions on a variety of topics. You can wander from cluster to cluster at these parties and hear any variety of topics. People are talking about boardrooms and bedrooms, sex and politics, trends and television, hobbies and health concerns – it’s like surfing through the blogosphere. Every conceivable topic just a click away.
There are those anxious to join in the conversation and share opinions on the topic at hand, and there are fringe-listeners who still benefit from the information shared in the conversation, but don't feel the pressure or obligation to participate. Both types are influenced and benefit from the conversations taking place.
Are you having passionate conversations with your clients? Are you up on the latest dirt and gossip of your industry? Do you REALLY know how your clients feel about you? About your competition?
The only way you’re going to find out is to strike up a conversation.
Stop lurking at the fringes – join in on the topic of the day, or throw your own Blogtail Party and strike up a brand new conversation on the topic of your choice. Share YOUR passion and you’ll benefit from the passion of others.

Don,
You're still rockin' and rollin' with good stuff here.
Wanted to let you know we love you style and ideas, just in case you thought no one was out here.
Life's tough...blog hard !
